Sheila has 24 years of experience in the field of Health and Human Services in Louisiana and Texas. Her recent appointment as Associate Commissioner of the Texas Health and Human Services Commission’s Center for Elimination of Disproportionality and Disparities (the Center) that manages the Texas Office of Minority Health, Office of Border Affairs, and Regional Equity work efforts marks her exemplary service to children and families.

Kids, Race and Equity- Data and Tools for Child Wellness and Opportunity in Texas

This workshop will explore current research innovations at the national, state and regional level that employ principles of racial equity to track the well being of children and eliminate racial disparities. The panel will be lead by national and Texas-based research organizations the Annie E Casey Foundation, the Center for Public Policy Priorities and the Center for Elimination of Disproportionality and Disparities. The presenters will share research findings, toolsets, methods in technical assistance, and service delivery practices that help track, measure and advocate for racial equity and child well-being.
