Campaign Staff and Lead Researcher | Streetwise and Safe (SAS)

Mitchyll Mora, Campaign Staff and Lead Researcher at Streetwise and Safe (SAS), graduated from the SAS leadership development program. Mitchyll has been organizing around policing and issues related to street based youth for the past five years. In the last year, Mitchyll played a leadership role in Communities United for Police Reform, speaking at rallies, press conferences, public forums, and testifying before city council about the impacts of discriminatory policing on LGBTQQ youth. Mitchyll has also co-founded a reading series and online magazine addressing issues of sex and sexuality.

Get Yr Rights: Toolkits for Transforming Our Communities

Get Yr Rights: a national Know Your Rights Network made up of organizations working with LGBTQ youth are excited to share out a youth-created campaign toolkit! Policing is a day to day reality faced by LGBTQ youth, especially LGBTQ youth of color in communities across the country. Youth are responding to police violence by organizing their communities and changing law and policy to reduce harm during police interactions. During this session we will launch a toolkit to share out the brilliance, organizing strategies, and campaign tools created by and for LGBTQ youth.
