Jaison Gardner

Jaison A. Gardner has been a social justice activist and community organizer for more than fifteen years, working primarily around issues related to youth empowerment, LGBT rights, people of color issues and women’s liberation. He has served on the board of directors for several progressive organizations including the Sexual Minority Youth Assistance League (SMYAL) in Washington, DC and Women in Transition (WIT), a poor people’s organization in Louisville, KY. A current board member of Kentucky's Fairness Campaign, Jaison is the co-host with Dr. Kaila Story of "Strange Fruit: Musings on Politics, Pop Culture and Black Gay Life," a weekly social justice podcast produced by 89.3 WFPL, and he writes the biweekly column "In Visible Ink" for LEO Weekly. Jaison firmly believes that a threat to justice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.

Queering Racial Justice Organizing in the South

Better Together is a cohort of 8 racial justice and/ or LGBTQ organizations who are advancing dynamic strategies to advance transformative change in their communities and the South. As a cohort, the cohort is working collectively to shape the true narrative about the vibrant work, effective strategies, rich legacy and possibilities of intersectional work in the South. Join members of the cohort for an interactive workshop with a focus on best practices and highlights of creative work to queer racial justice in the South.
