12:00 pm to 5:00 pm

From the perspective of historically underrepresented communities, Dallas in Context: Stories of Struggle and Hope features community based artists and activist groups working on issues ranging from tenants’ rights, immigration reform and black queer creative expression to drug policy reform, police brutality and overcoming Islamophobia. This guided bus tour celebrates the positive contributions artists and activists have made to the Dallas social fabric without downplaying the contemporary challenges that face this rapidly growing and increasingly diverse city.

This bus tour has been curated by Dallas local Sara Mokuria, Race Forward Local Coordinator, and the Dallas Facing Race Host Committee and will be guided by Don Payton and John  Fullinwider. The bus tour will make 5 stops as the guides discuss the intricate social and political mechanisms of the ninth-largest city in the country.
